Miami Dolphins -- Jake Long, OT
Why: Long is a outstanding run blocker and he will fit in perfectly in Miami, a team which will run the ball a lot in 2008. Long may never develop into a Hall of Fame level tackle but will be a multiple time Pro Bowler and a fixture on the Miami line for years to come. NFL Comparison: Jonas Jennings |

St. Louis Rams -- Chris Long, DE
Why: Chris Long is one of the most complete defensive ends to come through the draft in the last decade. He's not a Dwight Freeney level pass rusher but he plays the run very well and is still able to get after the quarterback. As a result Long translates to the NFL better than some recently drafted rush ends. NFL Comparison: Grant Wistrom |

Atlanta Falcons -- Matt Ryan, QB
Why: Ryan has all of the makings to be a great pro quarterback and unlike new teammate Joey Harrington Ryan combines a great understanding of the game with the athletic tools to succeed. Ryan instantly becomes the Falcons top quarterback and could play from day one. NFL Comparison: Matt Hasselbeck |
| #4 |
![]() |
Oakland Raiders -- Darren McFadden, RB
Why: McFadden is the most explosive player in this draft and despite being just 20 years old should help the Raiders from the start. Despite Justin Fargas's success in 2007, McFadden's potential is hard to turn down. NFL Comparison: Edgerrin James |
| #5 |
![]() |
Kansas City Chiefs -- Glenn Dorsey, DT
Why: Glenn Dorsey is going to be an absolute monster for the Chiefs combining both great bulk with outstanding quickness and the ability to compress the pocket. Dorsey will have the biggest impact of any player drafted this year and could easily make a trip to Hawaii in February, he's that good. NFL Comparison: Warren Sapp |
| #6 |
![]() |
New York Jets -- Vernon Gholston. DE
Why: Gholston is a perfect fit for the Jets as an outside pass rushing linebacker. Gholston has the most development left of any Top 10 pick but there is no question he can rush the quarterback and the Jets will be able to bring him along slowing using him only as a rush specialist. NFL Comparison: Terrell Suggs |
| #7 |
![]() |
New Orleans Saints (f/NE-f/SF) -- Sedrick Ellis
Why: Ellis is an ideal fit in New Orleans as he will now be paired with great pass rushing ends in Will Smith and Charles Grant. Ellis uses his leverage to play the run well but is an absolute force rushing the passer including 8.5 sacks as a senior. He's a huge upgrade for the Saints and gives them one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. NFL Comparison: Darnell Dockett |
| #8 |
![]() |
JAC Jaguars (f/BAL) -- Derrick Harvey,
DE
Why: The Jaguars add another big physical player in Harvey who uses his strength and size at 6-4 275 lbs to rush the passer as well as play the run very well. Harvey is actually very similar to now teammate Reggie Hayward giving the Jaguars two of the stoutest 4-3 defensive ends in the league. NFL Comparison: Reggie Hayward |
| #9 |
![]() |
Cincinnati Bengals -- Keith Rivers, OLB
Why: Rivers is a well rounded linebacker who is capable of playing multiple positions and is good but not great at a number of things. He may not wow anyone with his athleticism but he has great awareness and makes more plays than you realize similar to former USC linebacker Lofa Tatupu. NFL Comparison: Mike Peterson |
| #10 |
![]() |
New England Patriots (f/NO) -- Jerod Mayo, LB
Why: Mayo has seen his stock rise in recent days and his ability to play either inside or outside linebacker fits into the New England system especially if Mayo is over any previous injury concerns. NFL Comparison: Kirk Morrison |
| #11 |
![]() |
Buffalo Bills -- Leodis McKelvin, CB
Why: The Bills have the makings of a great young defense and McKelvin now adds into that. His size and outstanding quickness should at worst allow him to be a great third corner but his ceiling is high and he could end up being a steal at #11. NFL Comparison: Nnamdi Asomugha |
| #12 |
![]() |
Denver Broncos -- Ryan Clady, OT
Why: Clady is a perfect fit for the Broncos system which puts an emphasis on having quick linemen who can pull on run plays. Clady is a very good in pass protection and has quick feet. He may need some time to develop but at worst should be a average NFL starter. NFL Comparison: Matt Light |
| #13 |
![]() |
Carolina Panthers -- Jonathan Stewart, RB
Why: Stewart is an interesting prospect because even though he is not a big back he is still a physical runner to go along with his top end speed. He is a similar player to the Falcons Michael Turner and will combine with DeAngelo Williams for one of the best young RB duos in the NFL. NFL Comparison: Frank Gore |
| #14 |
![]() |
Chicago Bears -- Chris Williams, OT
Why: Williams is a huge prospect with maybe more development and potential than some of the other linemen in the draft. He can overwhelm power defensive ends but also has good enough feet to neutralize quick pass rushers. NFL Comparison: Bryant McKinnie |
| #15 |
![]() |
KC Chiefs (f/DET) -- Branden Albert, OT
Why: The Chiefs are having an outstanding draft thus far adding both Glenn Dorsey and Albert a player who some had projected to go to Kansas City at #5. Albert should be able to make the transition to tackle and if the transition goes well Albert could be right there with Jake Long when all is said and done. NFL Comparison: Flozell Adams |
